Microneedling

Are you bothered by uneven skin tone and texture, early signs of aging, acne scars, or stretch marks? If so, microneedling at First State MedSpa is an effective solution! Whether you are looking to treat the face, neck, or decolletage, this treatment can help.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that is used to target a number of skin concerns. It works by stimulating collagen production in the skin to reduce the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks, and other skin irregularities.

The benefits of microneedling include:

  • Minimally invasive.
  • Improved skin tone and texture.
  • Reduction in acne scars and stretch marks.
  • Softens the appearance of age spots, fine lines and wrinkles and enlarge pores.
  • Little to no downtime needed.

The Treatment Process

To begin your microneedling procedure, your provider will cleanse the skin and apply a topical numbing cream to ensure you are comfortable. Then, a special microneedling pen equipped with many micro-needles will be moved across the skin, creating micro-wounds. This will trigger the body’s natural healing process, stimulating collagen and elastin production. The length of treatment will vary depending on the size of the treatment area.

Who is a Candidate?

Individuals who are in good health and have certain skin concerns that have not responded to at-home treatments can often benefit from microneedling. However, this treatment is not suitable for those with bleeding or clotting disorders, if you have certain skin conditions in the treatment area such as eczema or psoriasis, have a weakened immune system, have a history of severe scarring, or are pregnant. Please contact us today to schedule a consultation appointment to learn more.

Downtime

Following your microneedling treatment, you may experience mild redness, swelling, bruising, and sensitivity. However, because this procedure is not invasive, recovery time is minimal. Most patients can return to work or school right after treatment, and makeup can be used during the first day to camouflage any redness. Be sure to wear sunscreen in the week following treatment, as your skin will be more sensitive than usual. Most people will need a few treatment sessions in order to achieve  the best possible results.
